This privacy policy informs users about the nature, scope and purpose of the collection and use of personal data by the responsible provider of this app. The legal basis for data protection can be found in the General Data Protection Regulation (DSGVO) and the Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG). Corant GmbH (the company behind the air-Q) collects and uses your personal data exclusively within the scope of these regulations. This means all information that relates to an identifiable or identified natural person. This includes, for example, your e-mail address.

2. installing the air-Q app

The air-Q app is available via distribution platforms operated by third parties, so-called app stores (Google Play and Apple App Store). The download may require prior registration with the respective app store and installation of the app store software. Corant has no influence on the collection, processing and use of personal data in connection with your registration and the provision of downloads in the respective app store and the app store software. The responsible party in this respect is solely the operator of the respective app store. If necessary, please contact the respective platform provider directly for more information.

3. required permissions

In order for the air-Q app to function properly, it is necessary for you to grant access to certain smartphone functions and personal data stored on the device. Thus, you will be asked to grant the corresponding access authorisation once at the beginning or only when using the respective function.

The following access permissions are required:

Network Access & Network Connections
Network access is required because the air-Q app needs access to the internal network to function properly. Some functions can only be used in online mode.

Location information
The air-Q app requires the location coordinates of the respective air-Q unit to make all functions available. These are used to create individual evaluations and location-dependent air quality comparisons that are made available to you.

Memory
As part of the device registration, information about the air-Q security messages is encrypted and stored locally. These serve as an error log and are used to ensure the proper functioning of the air-Q app. This data is only requested when necessary and is not sent automatically.

Device status
For our security check, we need access to the status of your smartphone / tablet / mobile device.

Insight into and revocation of access granted

You can track the permissions granted and revoke them at any time in your operating system under Settings > Apps > air-Q > Permissions (operating system dependent). However, in order for the air-Q app to function properly, it is necessary for you to grant access to certain smartphone functions and personal data stored on the device.

4. what data is required to use the service?

In the following, we would like to inform you about which data is collected, processed and stored via the air-Q app.

4.1 Setup data

After installation, the air-Q app requires the following set-up data: "Email address", "Password". This set-up data is required for the app to function.

4.2 E-mail address

You need the email address to log in to the air-Q app. Your email address is also used for unique identification with our online service. The air-Q devices you use are assigned to your e-mail address and it is ensured that they are used in accordance with our terms of use.

4.3 Password

Your personal password, which you assigned when setting up the air-Q app, is also required for logging in to our online service. If you change your password, this applies to both the air-Q app and the online service.

4.4 Unit ID

The air-Q app requires the unique device ID of your air-Q device(s). This ID is used to ensure a unique assignment of your device / device type / usage model to your user account.

4.5 Location data

The air-Q app requires the location coordinates of the air-Q. These are used to relate your indoor air data to your respective outdoor air data (e.g. measured values from the Federal Environment Agency) and furthermore to create an internal air quality map. The location data is not related to other personal data. It is not possible to trace the data back to individual persons.

4.6 WLAN data

The air-Q app stores WLANs / SSIDs within the radio range of the air-Q for the purpose of connectivity. This Wi-Fi data is also transferred to the air-Q Cloud when the air-Q Cloud is active to enable connectivity and changes to Wi-Fi access via the web.

4.7 Data collection when using push notifications

You can receive notifications about air quality situations. After downloading the air-Q app, your smartphone registers with the respective push service (Apple Push Notification or Google Cloud Messaging). The service then sends a token to your device. The token is transmitted by the air-Q app to Corant and stored in a database there. If a notification is to be sent, Corant sends the message with the token to the push service, which forwards it to your device.

As soon as you switch off push notifications in the settings of the air-Q app, the token is deleted from Corant's database.

5. does Corant or its partners receive data and for what purpose?

Corant and its partners receive and process the data you provide in the air-Q app for certain purposes. In the following, we would like to inform you about the purposes and their recipients in detail:

All personal data collected, processed and stored in the air-Q app will be shared exclusively with Corant and will not be disclosed to third parties, except in the cases described below. However, the data shall be processed and made available in aggregated form for statistical purposes.

a) As part of the use of the air-Q Online Services, Corant transmits your encrypted login data (email address, password, device ID / information on air-Q devices used) to Amazon AWS as the operator/hoster of the air-Q Online Services. All data is explicitly stored on servers in Germany.

Your above-mentioned data will only be transferred after you have expressly consented to the use of the online services during the registration process. The data transmission ensures both the secure registration for the online services and a clear assignment of the air-Q devices to your user account.

The transmission of data between the air-Q app and the recipients described here always takes place using SSL encryption, which corresponds to the current state of the art.

6. data collection for analysis and troubleshooting purposes

Data is collected in the air-Q app to ensure error-free provision of the app and to further develop the app in a needs-oriented manner. Corant developed the necessary functions itself. Corant uses Google as a service provider to evaluate the data.

6.1 Analysis to ensure freedom from errors and needs-oriented further development

To ensure that the app is error-free, Corant uses various analysis functions. If an error occurs, it can be traced in retrospect where it happened so that the cause can be determined. The analysis functions also provide information that can be used to further develop the air-Q app as needed.

The following data is collected:
- Client IP (shortened, does not allow device and person to be assigned)
- End device ID (number randomly generated in the app, which does not allow device and person to be assigned)
- App version
- Operating system
- Screen resolution
- Mobile device/type
- Date and time
- Content and functions / subpage accessed

There is no linking of usage data with other personal data.

6.2 Analysis of cross-platform usage behaviour

In addition to the information mentioned under 6.1, an anonymous user ID is collected for this purpose. This enables Corant to evaluate how the offers in the air-Q app and the air-Q online services are used in a complementary manner.

The user ID is a hash of your email address and air-Q device ID that can no longer be assigned to individual users. Your personal data and usage behaviour remain de facto anonymous.

7. storage periods and deletion of the data used

7.1 Storage periods for active use

When the app is actively used, certain data is stored until it is uninstalled. This includes

- Connected air-Q devices.
- The measurement data / air quality data collected and transferred to the air-Q app.

7.2 Deletion of your data upon uninstallation

When the air-Q app is uninstalled, all data is removed from the smartphone. The data stored in the air-Q online services is not automatically affected by this. This data remains stored until you explicitly request it to be deleted. This serves as a security measure for you, because you do not want to lose your data when you delete or uninstall the air-Q app (e.g. when you change your smartphone).

8. your rights

You have the following rights:
a) Right of access (Art. 15 GDPR)
b) Right of rectification (Art. 16 GDPR)
c) Right of erasure (Art. 17 GDPR)
d) Right of restriction (Art. 18 GDPR)
e) Right of objection (Art. 21 GDPR)

The air-Q app is not used for profiling or scoring measures pursuant to Art. 22 DSGVO.
