What is it about?
Despite a clearly communicated smoking ban, guests smoked continuously in Delphine's vacation apartment for a week. The consequences were serious:
- An intense smell of smoke had settled deep into the furniture, textiles and walls.
- Despite days of ventilation and expensive ozone treatments, the smell persisted.
- Several pieces of furniture had to be replaced.
- Amount of damage: several thousand euros - entirely at his own expense, as no insurance company stepped in.
- No legal recourse, as there was no direct evidence against the guests.
Delphine was therefore not only facing high financial losses, but also long-term damage to its reputation: bad odors in vacation apartments quickly lead to poor ratings and falling booking figures.
The situation clearly showed that it was not enough to hope for the guests' understanding or to rely on insurance cover. Delphine needed an active, preventative solution that would intervene at the first sign of a problem.
