What is the reparability index?
The repair index is designed to show consumers buying electrical and electronic equipment whether and how well it can be repaired or maintained. A rating scale is used for this purpose, giving products between 0 and 10 points. The higher the score, the easier it is to repair the product.
The index was invented in France. Since 2021, stores have been visibly displaying the label on corresponding devices.

The repair index is determined on the basis of five main criteria:
- Quality & availability of technical documentation that can be used for repair.
- Easy disassembly to disassemble the product and get to the defective components.
- Spare parts availability
- Spare parts costs
- Availability of software updates, help on the website, hotline, etc.
